I had a great time at BlogHer once again- no surprise there! I was there for work and the atmosphere definitely had a very large professional feel. Maybe that’s because there were lots more people this year, maybe because BlogHer was back home in California. Who knows!

I attended a lot of great sessions, from whether or not some forms of blogging are radical to how to monetize your blog and more. I even had a chance to chat with a crafter or two. And did I mention I got to see my favorite San Francisco guy Dan?

I got to see one of my favorite people in the world, Dan, this morning. He took me out for some belated birthday magic breakfast at the Squat and Gobble in The Castro, and I loved it. Here’s proof we saw each other. Look for us walking down the aisle together at Christi’s wedding this September! Ha.

A beautiful day in California

While at BlogHer today, I signed up to get some beauty tips from the Bare Escentuals team in the exhibitor lobby. It was a lot of fun; I really enjoyed the formal how-to from my gal, as I had a hard time figuring out how to buff, twirl, tap, etc., with the product. Now that I’ve had the demo, it makes perfect sense. (Shout-out to the BlogHer staff: Excellent idea to have them here! Probably not as swamped as the Sesame Street Suite, but dang, they were busy!)

I’ve been debating switching from MAC to Bare Escentuals because I really appreciate the latter’s approach to non-icky (is that a professional term?) cosmetics. I tried some new products I wasn’t familiar with, and ended up getting a great starter kit and a free lip gloss for ordering with the team. Color me impressed. I have to wonder- Macy’s is a big sponsor of BlogHer, but what specifically do they do with bloggers and social media? I need to ask around about this, I’m very curious.

Bare Escentuals seems to be making their way to all sorts of places, from products at Sephora, to specials on QVC, to full counters at Macy’s and Nordstrom. I asked my beauty gal about how they got into Target, as I purchased a “starter” kit from my local Canton location. WELL, it turns out those kits are actually old product meant for warehouse distribution (a-la local spa or something like that), and aren’t supposed to be at Target. This isn’t shocking; I got hooked on Matrix hair products years ago, and after buying them at salons as a poor college student, I started buying them at Target until I found out the product was at least three years old from those stores. Same story here!

So, I might be hooked. I believe so.

Last night’s cocktail party was sponsored by TNT and those two shows. What did they give out? Clocks, wine charms and nail polish. I’m guessing TNT knows their audience!

The best part about the nail polish? It’s Essie nail polish. Crimson Closer, to be exact. Of course, I pick up a bottle RIGHT AFTER I painted my nails for the evening…

So cool. My dad was on set the other day for an upcoming production inside the Model T plant. I really wish this building had been taken care of over the years.
